Sirens

by Dan Daly

/

lyrics

Out of my bed, I'm swept to sea/
The tide breathes in to swallow me/
"Please let me go" I beg and plead/
The current pulls me underneath, and in my ear the sirens sing/

"You needed something closer, some place to rest your head/
You needed something from the ocean, and the ocean needs a friend"/
And now my dear I'm drowning, I'm sinking like a stone/
So if you can please reach your hands out just to try and stop me now/

These ships above could rescue me/ (I can't stay swimming for too long)
But the anchor's just out of my reach/ (Please help my dear I'm drowning)
Is this a dream? Am I asleep?/ (Oh God why can't you wake me up)
Am I not stranded out at sea? Is that why you can't hear me/

Screaming?/ Press bones to crystal and I'm/sinking/deep in darkness unexplored/
Don't leave me/if I wake up will you believe me?/have I told you this one before?/

I can't escape this feeling, the water in my veins/
Last gasp of air to leave my lungs, its floating to a greater place/
I know I cannot swim these/ten thousand leagues alone/
So if you can please reach your hands out just to try and stop me now/

Feel afraid in the cold, alone
